What is Successful Hunting?
The upland bird hunting here in Nevada has been a little tougher than expected this year. This summer rumors ran wild of the great bird populations that we supposedly had, and in some pockets of the state those rumors where true. In most areas though the hunting has proved to be no better than the last two years. No matter how good, or poor, the hunting is you will find me on some mountain range in Nevada at least two days a week hunting. I am going to hunt just as much regardless.
I hunted three days last week, had a great time with the dogs, and killed a handful of birds. I also got to spend time hunting with my friends, and got to see some more beautiful country in Nevada’s high desert. Sure I would love to be shooting more birds, but taking into account the whole experience, it is hard to complain. There is nothing that I would have rather been doing, that is for sure. If all I cared about was shooting birds, I would hunt penned raised birds on private land every weekend, but that is not really my style.
Hopefully we will get some snow soon, as that is sure to help the hunting.
