Heat, Snakes, and Dogs
March 26th, 2010
Just a quick reminder to all of you running your dogs in the “off season”, in regards to exercise and training. As temperatures rise, let’s all be conscious of that heat. Making more water available to our dogs, shortening the length of their runs, and trying to use the cool morning and evening hours for their exercise will keep them safe, healthy, and happy. Every year dogs die from heat exhaustion that could have been prevented, and sadly it is nobody fault but the dog handler. Let’s make sure this does not happen to any of our dogs...
In many parts of the country snake season will also quickly be upon us, if it isn’t already. So let’s all be conscious of that as well. Most importantly, any unusual swelling or unusual behavior after a run this time of year earns an immediate trip to the vet. There is a ton of good information on the internet regarding snake bites and dogs, and obviously your veterinarian is a great resource to answer all of you questions. So, if you haven’t already, please take the time to do a little research. It could someday save your dog’s life.
Best,
Jay
Another Day at Pyramid
March 23rd, 2010

I fished Pyramid again on Saturday with my Buddy Paul, and with Jim and his Son Griffin. It was a still a bit slow, but that didn’t matter because it was a nice day and we were out fishing. I can’t think of anything better to do this time of year, except maybe a little dog training. Fortunately I did both this weekend.

Puppy Pictures
March 18th, 2010I just bred one of my male German Short hairs (Cash) to a really nice female named Gia. In the past she has put out some fantastic dogs, and I am excited to see this litter of pups. I am probably not going to keep a puppy, at least that is what I am trying to convince myself. I would really like to wait another year before getting another dog so that they are spread out a little more in regards to age. I am sure that they are going to be some great puppies though, so it is kind of hard decision for me. I am also a huge sucker for a puppy. One look into their eyes and I am immediately in love, and from that day, until the day they close their eyes forever, and beyond, that never changes. This whole deal has naturally got me thinking back to when my dogs where puppies. They are adorable little monsters at that age, which I am sure that you can all relate to. Attached are just a few of my favorite puppy pictures from my most recent two dogs.

Fishing Pyramid
March 15th, 2010Our Sales Manager, Paolo, took me fishing up at Pyramid Lake on Sunday. Paolo is probably the best fly fisherman that I have ever seen, so anytime I am fishing with him I am bound to learn something, and for sure I am also going to catch a little well deserved heckling and abuse somewhere along the way. We fished Sunday under the warm Nevada sun, and only had a slight wind to deal with, which was nice as the wind and water are still very cold. We each managed to catch few fish, and it was just steady enough to keep us excited. As things start to warm up the fishing should only get better.
