Pheasants in the Snow
March 21st, 2011My good buddy Paul, who I bird hunt and train dogs with more than anyone, invited me out to shoot some pen raised pheasants at a bird hunting preserve this last weekend. We ran Paul’s dogs and my dogs together, totaling 6, as we do very often during hunting season on wild birds. The only thing more fun than seeing a dog on point, is seeing one dog on point with 3 dogs backing. Paul has very good dogs, and I always enjoy having my dogs in the field with his.
Below are a few pictures.

Paul doing a great job of dog handling. Roxie on point with Yeager and Cash backing. The two flushing dogs (Coco and Phoenix) were told to stay until Paul was in position to shoot, then he released them to come in and flush. Perfect.

March 14th, 2011We are really lucky here at Glacier Glove to have some of the finest fishing guides in the world using our product. Captain Pier Milito, owner of FishingAdventureCharters.com in Florida runs a first class operation, from top to bottom. Paolo and I were fortunate to have the opportunity to fish with him a couple of years ago and it was one of the most fun experiences of my life. We at Glacier Glove would recommend Captain Pier Milito of FishinAdventureCharters.com to anyone. The Captain catches many species of fish and was fortunate enough to get a client into a beautiful Goliath Grouper. The fish was released unharmed, so that it can fight another day.
Below are a few picture that the Captain sent us from recent fishing trips.

More Off Season Dog Training
March 7th, 2011My buddy Darin (Glacier Glove West Coast Fly Fish Rep) called me last week with an invite to his duck club to hunt some pen raised pheasants. This was a great opportunity to run the dogs on some birds in the offseason in a simulated hunting situation, and I was excited to do so. I was happy to have Darin do the shooting, while I handled my dogs and took photos. Darin has a very nice Labrador, which he ran, and everything worked out perfectly as my dogs pointed the birds and his dog then flushed them. Good training and exercise for all the dogs. Proof once again that pointing dogs and flushing dogs can work very well together.
I want to again thank Darin for the invite and the good times. Like I said he has a very nice Labrador, and as I think about it I am really fortunate to have a small handful of hunting partners with Labs that anyone would be proud to hunt with.
Below are some pictures from the weekend.
