Interbike
September 20th, 2011For years professional and recreational cyclists have been using our gloves in cold wet weather, and in the last couple years the number of professional cyclists and cycling teams using our product has grown substantially. At Glacier Glove we made the decision to really jump into the sport with a new product line designed specifically for cycling, and we introduced that line at this year’s Interbike Show in Las Vegas. Coby and I were there for the show and we were very pleased with the response from the cycling community. Between the friends that we have made over the last couple years within the cycling community, and all of our new friends in the industry, the response was outstanding. Thanks to all of you for welcoming us into your industry. We are excited to be part of it.
Our full line of cycling gloves will be available this winter, so keep an eye out for them at your local shop.

Sheep, Thunderstorms, and Mountain Grouse
September 12th, 2011I had been thinking all week about a new spot that I wanted to try for Blue Grouse. Sunday morning those plans had to be changed as there were a few hundred domestic sheep feeding across the hillside that we were going to hunt. There is nothing natural about a few hundred grazing sheep, and I don’t want my dogs anywhere in the vicinity of the sheep or the dogs that protect them. Paolo and I decided on a plan B, and we were able to get a few birds, but it was pretty slow. Our hunt also got cut a little short by some nasty thunderstorm. At over 8000 feet they can move in quickly and violently, and we decided to bail off the mountain just in time, missing the worst of it.
All in all, it was still a good day. I was hunting upland birds in September with good company. You can’t complain about that.

Cash retrieving a grouse. He is always in the photos, taking any credit from Porter, as he has a habit of stealing the retrieve. I don’t think that Porter minds though, as I suspect that he really just wants to find the dead bird, and if he doesn’t have to actually retrieve it, no big deal. Off to find another one.

A mature Blue Grouse.

Another thunderstorm rolling in.

Porter and Cash cuddled up in the backseat, warming up after being drenched by the rain.

The Season is Open!
September 6th, 2011Blue Grouse season opened up on September 1st, and to celebrate the occasion I went blue grouse hunting. Joined with two of my good friends, Paolo and Darin, and with my two pointing dogs, Porter and Cash, we had a great time hunting grouse for three days. There were lots of birds, lots of birds on point, lots of good retrieves, and a really good time with a couple of guys that enjoy bird hunting as much as I do. Below are a handful of pictures from the trip:

Cash making another retrieve.

Darin posing with our grouse from day one. We had a good grouse dinner that night.
